A pesar de su trascendencia, existen pocos textos que se refieren a la obra y no ha sido objeto de análisis detallados a la fecha. El que aquí se presenta está organizado según una metodología de enseñanza de composición, pero que se adapta perfectamente como enfoque analítico. La Elegía a Machu Picchu, a pesar de ser una obra que utiliza el total cromático y se organiza en conjuntos de notas o series, no es una obra serial dodecafónica, pero sí una de carácter expresionista, que emplea recursos orquestales nuevos en concordancia con las nacientes tendencias de la segunda mitad del siglo pasado.Celso Garrido-Lecca’s Elegía a Machu Picchu is an important orchestral piece of the Latin American repertoire from the second half of the 21st century. In spite of its transcendence, very few texts deal with this work and it has not been analysed in detail so far. The present analysis is organised according to a composition teaching methodology that adapts itself very well as an analytical approach.
