Resumen
Military music in the Iberian world of the late 18th and early 19th centuries was significantly transformed by the impact of the political phenomena that affected Europe and America at that time. From a clear French influence, which originated even before the Revolution of 1789, through the War of Independence (1808-1814), the Liberal Triennium (1820-1823) and the South American wars of independence (1810-1824), military music and its multiple ramifications and influences formed an important part of daily life both in the Metropolis and in its provinces and overseas territories. This work represents a first approach to this sound dimension of the Hispanic and American societies of the time, with special emphasis on the Peruvian experience in the times immediately preceding the Battle of Ayacucho.
