Resumen
Among the many benefits it has, children’s choral practice is also an opportunity for our children to know the artistic expressions of our peoples. In a multicultural country like ours, this diversity enriches us as individuals, as a nation. It is, in turn, a source of knowledge and inspiration for our musicians and composers. This being the case, it is essential to include its musical works, intended for the so-called white voices, in the children’s choral repertoire of our country. This work describes the process of making the Descriptive musical catalogue: one hundred years of choral music for children in Peru, regarding the choral works for children -from Peruvian composers- written in the period between 1921 and 2021. It also includes the contributions of publications made by important directors and music pedagogues in favor of the choral repertoire in schools. We researched and explored information from diverse bibliographic sources, we contacted the largest number of national composers, or their relatives, in the case of composers who already passed away. This enabled us to create a contact network both at a national and an international level. As a result, we had access to relevant information concerning their compositions and arrangements for children’s choirs that, I am sure, will allow to widen the choral repertoire for children and adolescents in our country as well as its dissemination and use for didactic or research purposes.
