Esta investigación explora el recorrido histórico de la viola en Lima desde 1908 a 1940. El artículo aborda diversas aristas como el contexto social y musical de finales del siglo XIX e inicios del siglo XX, el cual influyó en la creación y la consolidación de las instituciones musicales mencionadas. Este análisis detalla la creación de la cátedra de viola en Lima y los violinistas que formaron parte de las instituciones que determinaron la vida musical que gozamos en la actualidad.
This research explores the historical journey of the viola in Lima from 1908 to 1940. The article addresses various aspects such as the social and musical context of the late 19th century and early 20th century, which influenced the creation and consolidation of the aforementioned musical institutions. This analysis details the creation of the viola chair in Lima and the violinists who formed part of the institutions that determined the musical life we enjoy today.
