Forma y estructura en Elegía a Machu Picchu de Celso Garrido-Lecca

Abstract

La Elegía a Machu Picchu de Celso Garrido-Lecca es una obra orquestal importante dentro del repertorio latinoamericano de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. A pesar de su trascendencia, existen pocos textos que se refieren a la obra y no ha sido objeto de análisis detallados a la fecha. El que aquí se presenta está organizado según una metodología de enseñanza de composición, pero que se adapta perfectamente como enfoque analítico. La Elegía a Machu Picchu, a pesar de ser una obra que utiliza el total cromático y se organiza en conjuntos de notas o series, no es una obra serial dodecafónica, pero sí una de carácter expresionista, que emplea recursos orquestales nuevos en concordancia con las nacientes tendencias de la segunda mitad del siglo pasado.

Celso Garrido-Lecca’s Elegía a Machu Picchu is an important orchestral piece of the Latin American repertoire from the second half of the 21st century. In spite of its transcendence, very few texts deal with this work and it has not been analysed in detail so far. The present analysis is organised according to a composition teaching methodology that adapts itself very well as an analytical approach. Although Elegía a Machu Picchu uses the full chromatic spectrum and is organised around note sets or series, it is not a twelve-tone technique piece but rather expressionist in character and one that employs new orchestral resources concurrent with the emerging tendencies of the second half of the past century.
