Resumen
La presente colaboración es una adaptación al formato de un artículo científico de los contenidos de mi tesis doctoral sobre el Nacionalismo en la Argentina. En él se reflexiona acerca de este movimiento en la música orquestal argentina y se estudian los modos en que los compositores lo plasmaron en sus obras por medio de la incorporación de elementos provenientes del folklore, la música indígena y el tango. Para un estudio del corpus musical se realizó una selección de obras representativas de diversos compositores del período y se analizaron en función del objeto de estudio. Se establecieron vínculos entre los rasgos observados y las características propias de la música folklórica, indígena y popular urbana; centrando la atención en las maneras en que los artistas elaboraron dichos elementos con herramientas europeas. La construcción del nacionalismo es una decisión consciente que involucra aspectos políticos, históricos y culturales. Hacia finales del siglo XIX y primera mitad del siglo XX, el nacionalismo se destacó tanto en Argentina como en Latinoamérica y otros países. Los artistas formados en Europa regresaban a su tierra trayendo no solo herramientas para la composición de música académica, sino también las novedades de la época. La primera parte de este trabajo traza las bases sobre las cuales se construyó el movimiento nacionalista en la Argentina, dejando para una segunda entrega el análisis de las partituras.
This collaboration is an adaptation to the format of scientific article of the contents of my doctoral thesis about Argentina’s Nationalism. It reflects on this movement in orchestral music and study the ways in which composers expressed it in their works by incorporating elements from folklore, indigenous music and tango. For a study of the musical corpus, we made a selection of representative works by several composers of the period and analyzed them based on the object of study. We established links between the observed features and the characteristics of folk, indigenous and urban popular music; we focus our attention on the ways in which artists crafted these elements with European tools. The construction of nationalism is a conscious decision that involves political, historical and cultural aspects. Towards the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, nationalism stood out in Argentina and in Latin America and the other countries. Artists trained in Europe returned to their homeland bringing not only tools for the composition of academic music, but also the innovations of the time. The first part of this article is based on the reasons for building the nationalist movement of Argentina. The analysis of score will be studied in a second part.
