Iconografía musical: nuevas luces y perspectivas sobre el arte de la escuela cusqueña de los siglos XVII y XVIII

Resumen
A través del estudio de las fuentes iconográficas musicales en las pinturas de la llamada escuela cusqueña de los siglos xvii y xviii, la presente investigación expone las diversas correspondencias entre la pintura y las prácticas reales de las capillas musicales del virreinato peruano, así como las vinculaciones del arte de esta escuela con la realidad circundante, el pensamiento y la sensibilidad de la sociedad colonial, más allá de estereotipos y formulismos derivados del arte europeo. Se muestra, además, cómo la iconografía ayuda a precisar ciertos aspectos trascendentales, como la datación de las obras, y se pone en evidencia la importancia y la necesidad de desarrollar estudios iconográfico-musicales ya que constituyen una valiosa herramienta para develar la historia del arte.
Through the study of the musical iconographic sources in the paintings of the so-called escuela cusqueña of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, this research exposes the various correspondences between painting and the royal practices of the musical chapels of the Peruvian viceroyalty, as well as the links of the art of this school with the surrounding reality, though and sensitivity of colonial society, beyond stereotypes and formulas derived from European art. It also demonstrates how the iconography assists to specify certain transcendental aspects, such as finding the date of the works, and highlights the importance and need to develop iconographic-musical studies since they constitute a valuable tool to unveil the history of art.
